I started this EP in Rome, Autumn/Winter 2016. The city, monuments, nature and people inspired it all.
It evolved over the next two years through jams, gigs, and hearing new music.
It is dedicated to my family, Luís, Yannic and all the gang from Rome, especially Pedro, Pierangelo and Alessia for putting up with me for three months.

I was living in Rome for 3 months for an internship in a studio. I thought I could get by without a guitar, but I bought one about 2 weeks in. It was small and cheap, and I named it CC, after Claudia Cardinale.

I was watching a lot of Wes Anderson movies over and over again, so had discovered Françoise Hardy. In the summer my parents had given me a Serge Gainsbourg collection, so the two of them were a big influence. I don't think my songs sound anything like theirs, but I wanted to write music like theirs.

I decided to use names of places in Rome for the track names. Each song reminds me of a place in the city and of people I was with.

'On This Hill' is the Gianicolo hill where the monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi is. I loved the view and I spent time there with my dad and my friend Yannic.

'Isola' is the Isola Tiberina, the island in the middle of the Tiber river. It's like an oasis away from the city. Perfect place for great ice cream and falling asleep by the river.

'Fiori (In Venice Square)' is for Piazza Fiori and Piazza Venezia. I walked through those places so much. The tram that passed by my house would stop in Piazza Venezia, which to me is the centre of the centre.

'Via Argenta' is a mixture of Via del Corso, the main shopping street off Piazza Venezia, and Rua da Prata in Lisbon. They're quite similar, so it felt a bit like home.

And don't forget the train station.
